Today in Politics...

...our nation's capital is in chaos, the capital building has been breached by protesters for the first time in more than 200 years, Twitter has locked the president's account, a congressional rep is working on impeachment papers for Trump, congress members were evacuated from the capital in the midst of the electoral college vote count, and democrats now hold both houses of congress as well as the executive branch.  The only thing that didn't happen today was the threat to fly a plane into the capital which has been circulating over the past few days.  What a shit show.

I'm less concerned about the protestors than with the utter failure of law enforcement to keep the capital secure.  And when congressmembers started receiving directions on how to barricade themselves in their offices it brought to mind something that usually only happens to US staff in foreign embassies when the local situation is circling the drain.

I'm not a Trump fan and not a Biden fan but the peaceful transfer of power is one of the hallmarks of our democracy.  Our country needs to pull together and not come apart at the seams at such a crucial time in history.

In the mean time I will continue to prep and remain on alert as usual.
